Gillingham FC, In Brief
To begin with, Gillingham Football Club came into existence in 1893. The club is from the county of Kent and has some very passionate supporters.
Gillingham plays home games at Priestfield Stadium and always have. With a capacity of 11,582, the stadium can create a wonderful atmosphere when they get a big crowd. Obviously, by languishing in the lower leagues for the most time, the stadium is rarely full.
Nickname
The club’s nickname is The Gills and they play their home games in a blue and white strip.
Honours
With no major honours to speak of, Gillingham still has great support from the marvellous fans. However, the club has won some minor honours for the faithful.
- English 4th Tier Champions: (1963-64, 2012-13)
- Kent League: Champions (1945-46)
- Kent Senior Cup Winners: (1945-46, 1947-48)
The club has much history together with a few other minors achievements but have not broke into the big time yet.
Rivalry
Gillingham have indeed no real rivals as such but the following teams are what the supporters love to beat most:
