Club Information, In Brief

To begin with, Bolton Wanderers came into existence in 1874. However, the original name of the club was Christ Church Football Club. Bolton Wanderers was one of the founder members of the Football League.

The club used to play their home games at Burnden Park, of course. Indeed, they have done for 102 years. However, in 1997, Bolton got a new stadium with the name, Reebok Stadium. But, to reflect new sponsorship deals, the stadium name can change.

The capacity at this new stadium remains at 28,723 and the supporters can make the place rock at times.

The club has three nicknames:

  • The Wanderers
  • The Whites

Club Honours

Although Bolton Has not won England’s top-flight, they have won the second-tier 3 times. They have won the third-tier once.

Perhaps Bolton’s best showing was winning the FA Cup 4 times and being runners-up 3 times. Bolton has also won the Football League Trophy once. Together with a host of minor cups to their name, Bolton’s trophy cabinet is hardly bare.
